Female

What is your degree subject (both if joint)? Specialist English

Does ‘Being Bad’ relate well to the other modules you are taking? Yeah i suppose it has. Not directly, but having had the chance to listen to other people's opinions has enabled me to relate better to other students and tackle essays etc from different angles.

If so, how? And if not, why not? (above)

Have you found ‘Being Bad’ too demanding, too easy, or at an appropriate level? Although i've enjoyed it, it has been a lot harder than i thought it would be. To be fair if i'd have known how much computer work would be involved, wouldn't have chosen it as i have found it hard. The lectures have been a lot of fun though.

Do you think the list of topics covered on the module was appropriate? Yeah, there was a vast selection of topics that were all diferent and interesting.

Are there any topics not included in the module that you would like to see included? There's loads that could be included as there's so many isues that affect socity.

Do you think that the format for classes has worked well? Generally yes. It's a relaxed atmosphere so we fel comfortable in mixing and talking to others and lecturers are always there to help if we ned it.

What did you think of the module team? Everyone'slaid back and friendly and all are approachable, whether it be face to face or by e-mail.

Do you think it would have been better to have had more:

Small group discussions? There were plenty

Discussion and debate among the class as a whole? If certain people let others have a say!

Information and talk from lecturers? There was enough i think. There was a good mix of all!

The approach taken in the module is interdisciplinary (drawing on perspectives from English Literature, Film Studies, Creative Writing, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Media Studies and Politics): do you think this a useful way of approaching the topics covered in the module? Yes

Do you think that interdisciplinary modules are a good idea? yeah, they add something different.

Do you think you have benefited from the interdisciplinary approach taken in the module? Yes.

Would you like to see more modules that cover this kind of subject matter? Yes

Are you planning to take the follow-up module PH2004 ‘Thou Shalt Not’ (note: the name of this module is likely to be changed to ‘It Shouldn’t be Allowed!’) at level 2? Not sure yet although it sounds interesting!

Would you recommend ‘Being Bad’ to a friend? Yeah, to be honest the lectures made a change from 'normal' lectures.

Do you think that the blogs (web logs) were a good idea? Well, they're time consuming and hard for people that aren't good on computers. Maybe if the criteria weren't so hard - fewer blogs and links etc.

What did you think of the other assessments (e.g. would it be better to have one longer assessment rather than two shorter ones?)? I liked having two. Then if you didn't understand one you could better on the second.

What have you learned from the module? That not all lecturers are stuffy and straight laced!

What parts of the module have you found most useful and why? Learning more computer skils even though i hate to admit it!!

What parts do you think were a waste of time and why? Bandits lecture and the lecture where we watched the video. They just didn't seem as interesting as the others.

Are there any other comments you wish to make regarding ‘Being Bad’? Never get rid of the module!!!

What do i feel i've learned in this module? Well for a start i've learnt to listen to everyone else's opinions and not just consider my own. I've enjoyed reading through everyone else's blogs aswell, especially Ruthie's. You're blog on masturbation was hilarious! There have been times though in the lectures when i could slap some people who aren't interested in anyone else's opinion, just their own. There are a few people that need to shutup!! Genrally i've had a wicked time though. I didn't think i'd be doing so much work on computers though and i hadn't got a clue what i was doing to begin with but i think i've learnt some new skills now. (I hope!) I've also made some good friends from the course as everyone is really friendly and up for a laugh. And if it weren't for a couple of them there's no way i would have finished this module cuz i'm so crap on computers! I'm glad i picked the module. I can de-stress now!!

I'm really excited cuz yesterday i booked my holiday for the summer! I can't believe the amount of crap tv programmes that are on for kids these days! What happened to the classics that we used to watch when we were little? I remember Buttonmoon and Rainbow and The Raggy Dolls. Then there was SuperTed, Simon and the Witch and who could forget The Animals of Farthing Wood?!! (Although that was more recent i guess) I still remember all the characters and everything. Kids today have to put up with rubbish like Teletubbies and the Tweenies! Even our parents had classic programmes to watch like Bagpuss and Muffin the Mule. I swear, a few years back, i'd go about my business and wouldn't think many people looked out of place. Just lately though i'm surrounded by the insane. Ther's this man that moved in at the top of my street and he has this dog. But rather than walk it on a lead like any 'normal' person, he puts it in a buggy and pushes it down the street! Hello! Then there's the crazy drunk that wanders around abusing anyone that comes close to him. To be fair though, most people smell him coming and try to aviod him at all costs. There's also this foreign lady but i don't know where she comes from cuz she can't speak a word of English. I know she's not all there though cuz she drives around town in this big camper van with her pet cat on the passenger seat. Not only that, she fastens it in with the seat belt! We went to the local club, but being as i had to be in work early the next day, I decided to drink loads early and then sober up as the night went on. NO CHANCE!! There's me, at my friends house with my bottle of martini (that didn't last long) still planning on not getting ou of my face, but onr thing led to another and to cut a long story short, i don't really remember much of the night. However the photos show me with a pair of red fury handcuffs around my wrists, a black thong on my head saying turn me on (clean, i might add!!) and autographed boobs - coutesy of the bouncers. Oh dear! Well it goes without saying that i felt rough the next day, so out came the pack of 52 hangover cures that i'd bought to go with the 52 drinking games! It's gone far too fast. I'm quite proud of myself this year though cuz i managed to go out christmas eve and get drunk without throwing up everywhere christmas day! What an achievement! Last year was a bit of a disaster and i wasn't proud of myself when i couldn't even face looking at my christmas dinner! Still, I had it sussed this year. I just got wrecked early and drank alcoholic slush puppies all night and that sobered me up. Just in case though, i went and bought a pack of 52 hangover cures. Some of them however need throwing in the bin for fear of causing actual bodily harm!

A friend of mine went and got her nipple pierced last week. Ouch! Not mentioning and names but if you want to find out who it is, just read through the other blogs. To be honest, i thought she'd chicken out but she's braver than i thought. It makes me feel funny, although she says it doesn't hurt as much as she thought it would and she said the worst part was whipping her top off in public! I'm still not sure about the whole piercings thing. I studied phobias for my a level and it was surprising to see actually how much phobias can affect our everyday life. I found tat women seem to have more specific phobias like spiders or birds and men suffer from phobias of needles and things associated with pain. (No surprise there then!!) It's hard to differentiate between a fear and a phobia though. A phobia is something that we are afraid of that we would go out ofo our way to avoid. I know people that literally freeze with fear when they have to face their phobia. I am petrified of spiders; not so much the little ones but the big, fat hairy ones that just come straight at you out of nowhere. They're evil, i don't care what anyone says!!

I really hate it when you look at a person and you can't tell whether they're male or female! I know it sounds awful, but i know there must have been a time when we've all wondered about someone. I was out shopping with my little cousin recently and we went to buy some food. My cousin insisted on giving the cashier the money, so i handed it to her and told her to give it to the man. It never even entered my head what i'd said until 'he' gave me my change and i caught sight of a name badge reading 'Sarah'. Oh dear. Anyway, i quickly grabbed the change and legged it out of the shop!! i felt bad at the time, but i'm quite amused now!! To be fair though, i'm sure i can't have been the only one who'd ever got confused about her and if she'd have been that bothered she'd have done something to make herself more feminine.

It always makes me laugh when you're sitting with your friends talkin about everything and anything and the conversation always gets around to the 'who's the better sex' discussion. The boys will obviously argue that they are the best as they can read maps and are good with their hands ( or so they say!!), and the girls will argue that they have the ability to do more than one thing at once and are good talkers and listeners. But which sex is the stronger. A lot of research has been carried out looking at this and it turns out that it's all to dowith the brain and how men and women use different parts of it. Men have better spatial ability and women are better with emotions. That's fact, but i still like the idea that women are the stronger sex. Let's face it, the boys would be lost without us!!! If anyone wants to challenge me over this let me know, but be warned, i put a good fight!!!

It's interesting reading through everyone else's blogs cuz aswell as discussing lectures and personal subjects, there are loads of you all asking the same question. What is being bad? I have to say though that i agree with the majority who all reckon that it's down to peronal choice. Some people consider some things bad whilst others don't and visa versa. At the end of the day, i think we live in a pretty strange world and we propably all do things all the time that seem perfectly normal to us, but wrong to others.

I found the lecture last week really fascinating. Not sure about the 'hanging from hooks' thing though. Looked a bit painful if you ask me. I found the discussion about body modification not just being personal choice interesting. We often forget that cultures and beliefs determine so much of what we do as individuals. It seems awful to think that some people are willing to put themselves through a lot of pain and discomfort to please others. I personally just thought of body modification as including body piercing, tattooing and plastic surgery. I was shocked by some of the images that we were shown, but then again, maybe that's just me being naive!!!

Well i have to admit i was slightly apprehensive as to how today's lecture was going to be taught, but i think it was handled very well! Who knew there were so many different ways of saying masturbation?! I thought some of them were hilarious - dehorning the rhino? Peeling the eel?! I'm not sure i'm completely convinced about the history behind it all though. Surely some of that's got to be a pile of crap! I have to confess though, i could hardly stop laughing. The funniest bit though had to be the look on the boyz faces when they found out none of us girls had written down using vegetables as an aid to masturbating! It didn't take us girls long to figure out what you used though did it??!!

Although it took a while for the lecture to get started yesterday, i found it pretty amusing! It made a nice change to be discussing smoking in terms of facts and figures and media influence rather than the usual 'smoking is bad for you health' argument. That one's just been looked at too many times. As for smoking being dubbed as sexy though, i'm not sure about that one and i thought the video clips were hilarious especially the ones of the american politicians. Is that what they were? Didn't sound like they knew what they were talkin about really, paticularly the one that was discussing his mothers diabetes!! Hello?! Do we even care?!?! Liked the clip of the smoking toddler too.
